'Becker' Missing from CBS Slate The veteran comedy "Becker" isn't on the fall schedule for CBS, but there's still a chance it could return next season.
The show, which wrapped up its fifth season last month, suffered a considerable drop in viewership this season, when it moved to 8 p.m. ET Sunday from the more protected 9:30 p.m. Monday slot. "Becker" averaged about 10.4 million viewers a week this season, down from more than 16 million last year. CBS President and CEO Les Moonves says the network is "still in discussions" on possibly bringing the show back later in the season, but he doesn't sound overly optimistic.
"Ultimately, you decide what you think is your best foot forward as you go ahead," he says. "And it ultimately was decided that the schedule was better with these two new comedies ['Two and a Half Men' and 'The Stones'] than with 'Becker,' and that happened."
There is no such ambiguity about "My Big Fat Greek Life," the Sunday-night companion to "Becker" this spring. It's not coming back. The show never really recaptured the spirit of "My Big Fat Greek Wedding," the hit movie on which it's based, and after some early curiosity, ratings declined steadily. Sophomore drama "The Agency" also got the ax.
